What services do you offer?
We offer a wide range of services including, Acupuncture, cosmetic acupuncture, turmeric acupuncture facial, collagen induction (anti-aging skin needling), cupping, moxibustion, electro-acupuncture, Auricular acupuncture, Tui Na, Gua Sha, Chinese dietary advice, Infar red heat lamp (tdp). Chinese medicine has a lot of mixed elements, it is not uncommon for at least 3-5 of these to be included in a treatment.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a component of Chinese Medicine. An ancient yet gentle and effective form of medicine. Acupuncture involves the placement of very fine filiform needles (the thickness of a hair strand) in certain areas of the body to create homeostasis (Balance). All disease starts with imbalance; good health is the result of a well balanced system.
How many visits & how long will it take to see results for acupuncture?
This will differ for each person, condition and age depending on the individual. Most people see improvement after one treatment, this may be as simple as sleeping better, adapting to stress better or improvement in pain scale. However to get a vast improvement it may take multiple treatments depending on severity and how injured or sick the client may be.
HOW IS COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE DIFFERENT AND DOES IT WORK?
East meets west with cosmetic acupuncture; It is the fusion of both health and science. Very small facial needles that are short in length are gently inserted into acupuncture points on the face and any fine lines or problem areas that you wish to be improved. The beauty of this treatment is that it involves, no down time, no topical anaesthetic, doesn’t interfere with any medication, and can be done at any age. The health benefits of acupuncture points on the face include but are not limited too are; headaches, sinus issues/infections, allergies, stress, anxiety, acne, TMJ dysfunction, digestive complaints. The cosmetic benefits are improved skin turgor, fine lines, sun damage, and an increase in collagen ( skin plumping).
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CHIROPRACTOR AND ACUPUNCTURIST?
A Chiropractor diagnoses mis-alignment of the spine through a hands on approach, vertebrae are re-aligned by controlled force. A Dr of Chinese Medicine is interested in the whole body and any disease that manifests within any major system such as cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, integumentary, nervous, respiratory, endocrine, gastrointestinal, gynecological etc. We diagnose through tongue, pulse, hara, inspection, palpation, and questioning. We restore function through acupuncture, moxibustion ,cupping, tui-na, gua sha, Chinese herbs, and dietary advice.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN OSTEOPATH AND ACUPUNCTURIST?
An Osteopath’s main focus is joints, muscles and spinal health; their treatment consists of manual adjustments, myofascial release, and physical manipulation of muscle tissue and bones. Osteopathy is 150 years young and does not treat joint infections, extreme injuries, ligament tears , bone cancers, broken bones, bone cancer or Rheumatoid arthritis.
A Dr of Chinese medicine practices internal & external medicine including mental health complaints. Our medicine includes a lot of mixed media:
Acupuncture– the insertion of fine needles to create homeostasis in the Musculoskeletal, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, intergummentary & respiratory systems.
Moxibustion– for increasing wcc (white cell count) in muscular injuries, knitting bone and releasing the heat of certain infections & speed up certain dynamic functions.
Cupping – to release muscle tension, to induce fresh blood and oxygen flow, speed healing time.
Chinese Herbs– to balance internal health, aid acupuncture and speed the healing process.
Chinese dietary advice– to eat right for your system and for the season.
Chinese medicine has been around and practiced for thousands of years with empirical evidence and now being proved through stringent evidence based medicine studies (EBM).Currently over 9000 studies and increasing continually.
CHINESE MEDICINE VS CHIROPRACTOR OR OSTEOPATH
The consultation for Chinese medicine is a holistic one which encompasses all systems of the body; there are no manipulations that are forced. We are concerned with both internal and external medicine; as well as acute conditions such as muscle & ligament tears, Rheumatoid arthritis and even helping to mend broken bones.
From an evidence based medicine approach evidence shows our current level of studies and research sits at 10,039 (2018) topping the charts above chiro and other modalities.
